Hello veterans, friends, and fellow 3gunners. My name is Michael, known to many of my friends as NANCY. I am 35 years old, I’ve been married to my beautiful wife, Tiffany, for 15 yrs and I’m a proud father of three amazing children.  I also happen to be an active duty Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army.  I have been in the military 16 yrs and I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of it.

I started my career as a young 11B in Ft.Benning, GA and have since served in Germany, Benning, Bragg, Lewis, and Drum. I spent my first 8 yrs in the infantry serving in various capacities and conducting numerous deployments. I had the amazing privilege of serving as a sniper, sniper team leader, and eventually finished my enlisted time as a platoon sergeant.

I finally wised up and decided walking is cool and all, but flying is much cooler! So I left the comforts of my Infantry life and strapped on a OH-58D Kiowa Warrior.  I flew Kiowas for over 5 yrs serving as a Pilot, Pilot in Command, and an Instructor Pilot.  After the Kiowas were removed from the Army inventory I was offered a job as a CH-47F Chinook Instructor Pilot.  Which is where I currently reside today teaching young men and woman how NOT to kill me, like I once did to my instructor pilots.

Of the many amazing things I have been able to accomplish in my life, the one I am most proud of is this organization.  3GUN4VETS is my way of giving back to my brothers and sisters who have shared many of the same experiences I have.  Many of us know the challenges that await us when we return home and try to fit back into normal life.  After the loss of my best friend, who is the center piece and inspiration of this company, I felt lost, angry, confused, abandoned, and disconnected with life.

My best friend, Zachary Ryan Wobler, was killed during a fire fight when his sniper team was compromised in Mosul, IR.  His death had a very significant impact on my life and has forever changed me.  I spent years trying to cope with his loss, but only grew further away from my family, friends, and hobbies in the process.  When I finally got to flight school and had some time to not worry about deploying I slowly started to get back into shooting.  It really wasn't the same though, I knew what was missing and that was my friend.  Zach and I spent lots of time on the range together, we both found comfort and joy in shooting and always discussed just how helpful it was.

I have always been an avid shooter and enjoyed the feel, smell, and sound of firearms.  I was first introduced to 3GUN by a very good friend of mine...(Who just happened to be the season 1 winner of Top Shot..hint..hint) during a very bad period in my life. Recovering from the loss of my friend and adjusting to a new lifestyle I reached my tipping point. I needed something to get me back on course, I wish I could say my family and friends did it, but you tend to push away the ones you the love the most in times of need. Instead, I found my alignment in 3gun.

I can’t begin to express the excitement I felt when I shot my first 3gun match. The adrenaline pumped through me as I tackled each course of fire. For a second I felt as if I was back in country surrounded by my friends taking it to the enemy. It was more then just the sport though, it was the people that made my experience so powerful.  3gun provides one of the greatest communities of like minded supportive people I have ever met.  Regardless of skill set, job, or background they all share a commonality: the love of the sport and the friendships built through it. 3gun has changed my life in so many ways. I found the outlet I needed to get me over my hill, recover my marriage, and my life. For that I am eternally grateful to the sport and people behind it who stood by me and helped me through.

My hope is that many of you who are also suffering from the loss of loved ones, the terrors of war, or the disconnect with society will be able to find the same healing power I found in this sport. I can’t promise you that this program is a cure, but I can promise you that the people you meet will become life long friends and the 3gun community will open a door of experiences and events you will never forget.
